It hangs artfully and romantically in my master bedroom. Four of Kelly’s lamps are hanging in the salon and are for sale for only $100 each(a $30-$50 discount!!). They will be on display for a couple months so stop by Epoch Salon and see these beauties up close! More of her art, including more lamps, are for sale on her etsy site.

Thank you for supporting a local artist!

A word from the artist…

About Tramp Lamps:

I have been Making One of a Kind Unique Lamps crafted from recycled Vintage & Modern Lingerie for over 10 years. Before I began making & selling my Tramp Lamps, I researched the idea thoroughly to be certain I was not copying someone else’s creative process or concept. Once I found that Nothing like this had ever been made before, I proceeded to develop my very first Lamps.

It was in the early Autumn of 2003 when I made my first Tramp Lamp & Launched my website. I made over 1000 individual Lamps in the first 10 years and I still love finding antique, Vintage, and used garments to alter, illuminate, decorate, wire for lighting and sell to people all over the Earth.

I have had the good fortune to be endorsed by founders of major lingerie companies, as well as complemented by the Heiress of a legendary American undergarment empire that was named after her when she was just a baby.

I love what I do and I am eternally grateful to everyone who has enjoyed my Tramp Lamps.

If you see anyone else making anything that resemble Tramp Lamps in any way, please let them know about http://www.TrampLamps.com

Thank your Support in my endeavor of illuminated Lingerie.
I love making TRAMP LAMPS and I love making art.
This is my full time job; I make it, I pack it, and I stand in line at the post to ship it.
I want you to love it & to be happy with it.

Remember, when you purchase from my shop, you are directly supporting me and my child. We thank you so very much!

Boy Talk

We always have something to say about women’s hair trends and how they change from season to season, year to year, and decade to decade. But we rarely include the men’s trends.  Maybe because they don’t change quite as frequently….

So, let’s talk about the male species for a bit.

Here’s the scoop, if you haven’t noticed….I would be surprised. Gone are the shaggy, California surfer cuts from the early 2000s. Gone are the layered up the sides to a short, messy, throw it around top from the last decade. Here are the days of long, and I mean Long, top with noticeable shorter sides. This requires a bit of disconnection between the two. It’s a much cleaner way for men to enjoy long hair.

This blonde dude is sporting a softer, less extreme short to long haircut. I’m pretty sure that if he were to glide some gel through his hair and push it back, he would be looking swag.

Top stays long with ears exposed

This brunette dude is sporting the MOST recent modification of the disconnected men’s haircut. Super short, seeing scalp around the bottom with the top measuring a few inches longer. I’m quite sure we were doing this in the early 90s.

Top is clearly disconnected to the shaved sides!

90s or now, as a stylist I’m enjoying the creativity and change these men are bringing into the salon.

What do I put in my “On-Site Bridal Bag?”

engagement

On occasion, a guest of ours gets engaged to be married! Diamonds, photographers, the cake, the venue, invitations, bridal showers, the dress, attendants, and the list goes on. From the beginning these gals are excited and BUSY! The fact that each detail is delegated to talented professionals is what keeps the Bride thinking happy thoughts, like diamonds!

Today we had the privilage of doing onsite bridal hair for our guest’s special day. The forcast was looking dreary all week but by mid wedding day the clouds were appearing lighter and fluffier! There was hope for a dry evening. (I think the Mother-of-the-bride had been talking to God all along)  Arriving onsite precisely on time, this is what I saw:

These were quick shots I took just before I dropped

my loaded down “On-site Bridal bag.”

Which brings me to the purpose of today’s post…What do I keep in my “On-site Bridal Bag? I thought inquiring minds would like to know. In no particular order because EACH product is essential in creating a beautiful Bridal Hair style that will hold up in all kinds of weather:

1. Straightening Iron/Curing Iron/hot rollers       2. Brushes/combs/picks

3. Rubber bands/ BobbiePins/HairPins        4. Hair clips        5. Aveda’s Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade

6. MoroccanOil Glimmer Shine Spray        7. Two kinds of Hairspray(medium by MoroccanOil and STRONG by ABBA)

8.  Strong hold high shine Pomade by D:fi        9. MIRROR-they must see how amazing they look!

I cannot live without HAIRSPRAY!

It’s been around a long time! -And thank goodness!! Hairspray changes things. It can give fine limp hair a bit of lift, flyaways a reason to lay down, curls a chance to stay, and updos an opportunity to shine!

My favorite kind for holding my bangs out of my eyes(and this is serious): MOP’s Firm Finish Aerosol

MOPhairpray

My favorite kind for holding without helmeting: Pravana’s Super Shape

PravanaSuperShape

My favorite kind for updo’s: Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong hold

MoroccanoilLuminousHS

My favorite kind for “barely there” but knocking down flyaways: Moroccanoil Luminuos Hairspray Medium hold

Check out these hairspray uses!

THE GOOD HAIR DIET

We all want healthy hair but how do we get it? Products that protect and moisturize help, but in some situations the problem can be from within. Here are 10 nutrients needed for luscious locks:
veggies

1. Antioxidants

Vitamins A, C and E promote circulation to the scalp. A and C add shine by helping produce sebum, which naturally conditions hair.

2. Essential Fatty Acids

Some fat in your diet helps a dry scalp. Find them in Omega-3-rich fish like salmon and halibut, avocados, flax seeds and walnuts.

3. Biotin

High in vitamin B7, produces keratin, which can prevent hair loss and graying. Find it in almonds, bananas, strawberries, egg yolks and liver(for the brave taste testers).

4. Folic Acid

It helps deliver nutrients to the hair root, promoting growth. Find it in asparagus, citrus, peas, and turkey.

5. Iron

This mighty mineral will thicken texture and is found in dark leafy greens and lean protein like turkey.

6. Protein

An essential building block for adding body and luster to our hair. Other than meat, eat raw nuts.

7. Selenium

Keep dandruff away with this mineral- it prevents buildup on the scalp. To get it, eat meats, fish, and broccoli.

8. Zinc

This mineral keeps hair voluminous and helps prevent hair loss. Find it in red meat, eggs, oysters, and shellfish.

9. Calcium

It’s a vital nutrient that promotes hair growth. Milk is fortified with calcium, but natural sources are strawberries, broccoli, okra, collard greens, and spinach.

10. Water

If you don’t drink water, you can forget about having nice hair. It keeps locks hydrated from the inside out, thus giving you smooth locks! Drink up.
